How to Analyze Your Competitors Online
A repeatable process for turning competitor research into a shipped roadmap — not another PDF nobody reads.
Step 1 — pick the right competitors
Three direct rivals ranking for your money keywords, plus one aspirational brand. Skip the ones your leadership talks about but no user compares you to.
Step 2 — snapshot the messaging
Screenshot every homepage, pricing page, and top three category pages. Note the hero headline, primary CTA, and social proof.
Step 3 — walk the funnel
Sign up, add to cart, request a demo. Count clicks. Note friction. This is where most gaps hide.
Step 4 — measure performance
Run each competitor through PageSpeed Insights and note LCP/INP/CLS. See Core Web Vitals.
Step 5 — find the content gaps
Export their ranking keywords vs. yours. Anything they rank top-10 for that you don't is a page to write. See competitive SEO analysis.
Step 6 — track drift over time
Repeat monthly. Competitors ship constantly — a one-off snapshot ages in weeks.
