Website Conversion Mistakes That Cost Sales

GAP Team · Jul 16, 2026 · 7 min read

These are the conversion mistakes we see on nearly every GAP scan. Each one leaks measurable revenue and each has a fix you can ship this sprint.

1. Slow LCP on money pages

Every extra second of load time drops conversion. See how to improve website speed.

2. Vague value proposition

"Powerful platform for modern teams" means nothing. Say what it does, for whom, and why it's better — in one sentence, above the fold.

3. Weak or missing trust signals

Testimonials, logos, certifications, review counts. Without them, first-time visitors bounce.

4. Unclear or hidden CTA

One primary CTA per page, high contrast, above the fold, and repeated after the value section.

5. Form friction

Every field cuts conversion. Ask for the minimum, defer the rest.

6. Mobile that feels like a desktop retrofit

Tap targets, thumb-zone CTAs, single-column layouts. Test on a real device, not a resized browser.

7. Pricing hidden or confusing

If the page is called Pricing, put a number on it. Ranges are fine; mystery is not.

8. No urgency or scarcity

Even soft signals — limited-time bonus, expiring trial length — move rates measurably.

9. Ignoring what the data says

Session recordings and funnel analytics show the exact drop-off. Fix that page first.
